On May 24, 2017, Mr. Waterman filed a medical malpractice lawsuit for personal injuries and wrongful death against Williamsburg Landing, Inc. (“WLI”) in Circuit Court for the City of Williamsburg and James City County, Virginia, No. CL17000857-00, seeking $2,500,000.00 in damages. According to the Death Certificate of WLI’s own Medical Director, the death of WLI’s resident patient was caused by the fall she suffered at WLI’s expensive nursing home facility, Woodhaven Hall.

Specifically, the “fall” was actually WLI’s resident patient being dropped to the hard floor on her back from four (4) feet in the air by a WLI nurse’s assistant who improperly transported the victim using a Hoyer lift, without any assistance and without the special sling/pad for amputees like the victim, as required. WLI also compounded its victim’s suffering by not providing the necessary pain medications on a timely basis, immediately after the ultimately fatal fall and shortly before the death it caused.
